Satin: fabric of excellence

Fabrics are available in huge quantity and varieties. Among all of them, satin is regarded as the most special type, basically because of the superior fine quality and velvety touch. It offers an elegant appearance through its sober shine and softness. Home furnishing industry is the one where fabrics are most used in different forms and satin is prominent as it is being used greatly.

Originally satin was extracted from silk but soon after the process came in much demand, due to which cotton, rayon, polyester and nylon all were used for manufacture of satin. Therefore satin is a byproduct of these fabrics. Fabric needs attention and so their byproducts too. While buying any variety of satin or even fabric, one should be equipped with complete information about the care and attention required by them. These are generally delicate materials and need deeper protection. When you buy stuff, make sure it is very much fine in quality and comfortable is use as well. Manufacturers often attach guidelines with their products so users should follow the instructions in the best possible manner. This insures long term performance of the product.

Satin fabric needs careful Washing

Best process is to go according to the instructions given on the fabric because the production and manufacturing of each fabric is done differently so needs care and attention according to that only.
Satin made of silk is recommended to be dry cleaned always. Otherwise, fabric like satin should be washed with normal detergent in lukewarm water preferably with hands only. Machine wash is not recommended generally though it’s being used nowadays in many cases. Machines that can give better performance should only be used.
Just like this, lot more information is provided over the fabric and sometimes you get a manual with all information. In order to attain high yielding performance and long life of your satin fabric, use mild detergent and soft hands while washing your fabric at home or better go to the dry cleaner for that purpose.

Fashion changes with changing moods

Term”Fashion” has direct reference to our daily clothing habits. People are somehow mistaken in understanding its real meaning. That is the reason why it is related with the latest designing trends being introduced in the industry. But in reality, fashion is whatever we might be wearing on daily basis. Loose trousers with cotton shirts or suits or kurtas become our style statement right at the moment we wear them. There isn’t any particular field for fashion or creators, it is built by people only and occurrence of frequent changes is a result of variations in their tastes and moods itself.

Similarly in textile industry, trends are dynamic and often change in accordance with the prevailing market demands. Design departments in all areas are getting more and more advanced nowadays which simply means they have a lot to offer to the public. Frequent shifts and variety of options in designs is also a reason behind changes in demand.

Whatever might be the style, fabric is generally specific in the textile industry. Most commonly used fabrics are cotton, linen, satin and polyester. Styles keep on changing in the usage of these fabrics only. Variations in textile industry are the demand of today because it benefits many people in our society.

Inside view of today’s textile industry

Looks trendy from outside, but is deeply embedded with huge amount of efforts and dedication of the workers. While rejecting one fabric, none of us would have ever thought about who has created it and with so much effort and we do it out of our own wishes. Sometimes the fabric doesn’t match the expectations and other time we don’t like the color combination. Whatever the reason might be, it is done with open hands. This is the reason why it is said that the textile industry today is consumer based and works in accordance with desires. In a way consumers are the leaders. And the textile industry moulds itself according to them. You might not ever be able to see any design which is ruled out by the users. Another would be ready for you with latest styles and fabric etc.

Choosing right kind of fabric gets difficult sometimes. In such a case, it is always recommended that one should undergo a complete R&D process beforehand. Then only use the material provided by that company. Cotton fabric is the chosen one from all the options available and duplicity is very much common in them. Consumers today don’t need any guidance but presenting the industry scenario is our job so take precautions while deciding about the material to be used as per your purposes.

Apparel and textile industry of India around 2.75 Lakh-crore

Ahmadabad: Apparel and textile industry of India of around 2.75Lakh-crore is likely to face global competitive edge in the rising field of cotton.
China is said to be world’s leader as cotton producer with 4.2-crore bales as against India’s production of around 3crore bales. Indian textile mills can bend their reduced cost production process in global market. According to the data collected by International Textile Manufacturers Federation (ITMF), estimated cost of production for Indian cotton Yarn is approx $2.13per kg which is much less than $2.89 per kg China and $2.81 US.

China stands ahead of India in competition where 35% cost advantage in India is basically because of the 100%rise in increasing production of cotton within the past 8 years. Natural fiber is gaining momentum now which has almost lost its position since early 80s to 2000 as against manmade fiber.
Cotton lost its share in the market because of the emergence of Reliance that brought its classy facilities of synthetic yarn. In the year 1982, the share was 62% which came down to 39% in the year 2001. Reason behind loosing the position was the introduction of man-made fiber which was much durable and cheap on cost.
During the mid of 2000, the trend was reversed somehow and ratio of both the fabrics man-made and cotton came out to be 50:50 which gave hope to the sector.
Entrepreneur at Ahmadabad said: High growth in cotton textile of the country is the result of a rise in people’s disposable income and availability of abundance of raw material.
Rise in Indian cotton production, 2000-01 from 1.4crore bales to 2008-09 more than 3crores, has brought a peculiar change in the industry.
Most of the Cotton areas of India went to Pakistan at the time of partition which led to scarcity during that period. It was only after 1970, that a phenomenal growth was witnessed in the cotton production sector of the country, stated by 40yr old veteran, PR Roy.
India has gained the position of net exporter after being cotton importer since around 4years. Due to the huge stock availability in domestic market, India has been able to improve its position in the competition of textile mills significantly.
